Brooms and witches share a significant history and association. As do brooms and magicks. A tool for rituals, clearing and balancing energies, and other rites of passage, the broom, otherwise known as the besom, serves numerous and varied purposes for the witch; each as unique as the witch themselves. For Erica, the besom literally and figuratively, clears the space necessary in order for her to create.
The fern, which symbolizes magick, enchantment, confidence, sincerity, and shelter, have long enamored and inspired Erica. As such, they appear in varied forms in all of her artwork.
